This woodlot was planted in 1993 for harvesting by the Domtar pulp and paper mill. The silver maple is native to the area with commercial and historical importance as a timber species—it is sold with red maple as soft lumber and was essential to forest recovery following the 19th Century logging boom up the St. Lawrence River.
