SNC Golf Tournament Raises Over $4,000 for Forest Conservation Initiative
Nearly 100 golfers and local sponsors helped South Nation Conservation (SNC) raise over $4,000 at its annual Friends of SNC Golf Tournament on September 9 at the Casselview Golf and Country Club in Casselman.
Proceeds will support the Authority’s popular Free Tree Pick Up program next spring which helps hand out 10,000 free trees to residents in each of SNC’s 16 member municipalities in Eastern Ontario.
“A big thank you to everyone who participated, sponsored or made a donation to the tournament,” says John Mesman, SNC Managing Director of Conservation Lands and Community Outreach.
Thank you to this year’s Black Maple sponsor, the new Ford Distribution Center in Casselman by Bertone and Rosefellow. As well to the Silver Maple Sponsors:
GFL Environmental, LRL Associates, Gerry Crepin Cartage, Ted Moran and Sons Ltd, ZSF Construction, EMB Developments Inc, and LAP enterprises.
Players were treated to a variety of on-hole games, and many walked away with door prizes courtesy of local businesses including Makeway Environmental Technologies, Lumen, Hurst Marina, St-Albert Cheese Factory, Sand Road Maple Farm, La Binerie,
Humble Beginnings Brewery, and Crysler Home Hardware.
“It’s inspiring to see people having a great time in support of a worthy cause,” adds Mesman. “This is one of our favourite fundraising activities and it brings people together, outside, where they can enjoy their local environment. It was great to bring it back again this year, after a two-year pandemic hiatus.”
Since 1990, SNC has planted more than 3.5 million trees across its watershed to enhance forest cover thanks to community and municipal partnerships and annual fundraising.
